You know what? Your 100% effort won’t look the same tomorrow as it does today. It may even look different the day after that.
One day, you will be able to give what some may call 50% effort, but if you are doing the best you can – so therefore it is your 100%.
On those days, the best thing you can do for yourself is to let go of all the “I should…” and “what-ifs” and expectations you have for yourself and your day. Just do the best you can. That’s all you or anyone else can ask.
And on another day, you may feel superhuman and you feel like you’re going at 125%. Guess what? That’s still just your 100% that day.
On those days we may think – “Why can’t I be like this all the time?” I know I do.
Rarely are two days a like.
Maybe we sleep better one night than we do another. Maybe we’ve worked harder at the gym one day and been sedentary the next. Maybe we had to hunch over our computer all day answering emails for work one day, and the next day we are shaking hands at a conference all day.
Most days will look different from each other in terms of our output, our energy, and our capacity to give, achieve, and be. And that is okay. The point is, as long as you do your best each day, then that is 100%.
Let go of expectations you have for yourself.
Drop the measuring stick of perfection.
Erase the negative thoughts that go through your mind about how your day should be going.
And embrace the fact that right here, right now, you are exactly as you should be.
Tomorrow may be different, who knows. And then again, maybe it won’t.
Until next time,
Jeri Austin
